a wee bunny

so... i could get used to this almost doing nothing bit. so far we have watched walk the line, hustle and flow and TV [sopranos, the new show big love.... it's really good. my favorite line - we polygamists are the new homosexuals.... heh heh]. i think i must be getting pickier about movies... both the above were OK but not great. walk the line made me want to drag out every last johnny cash record that hubby owns and play them... but it felt like a snippet made for TV moment of his and june's life [although i do really like her!]... and hustle and flow really reflected the MTV aesthetic that helped to produce it. if terrance whatever his last name was - wasn't such a good actor that movie would have fallen a part. [may i just ask WHY john singleton always makes the fairy tale ghetto movie??].

thanks to ms lang i constructed this bunny [you might have already gandered it on flickr]. it's the perfect gift for a new baby. now i just have to mail it. of course mine is wonky and not as perfect as hilary's - and i flipped the ears around - just because.... but what a great pattern . so simple and good. what i really want to make?? check THIS out! i can't stop thinking about that hippo... maybe i can tempt hillary with something in exchange for that pattern.... hmmm

so... i don't know how far you guys have gotten in the book... have you read about the INSANE "we have to beat the eiffle tower" ideas yet? or the one that actually got picked? [i loved the build up to that]. do we need to set a due date to finish by???

OK... i'm going back to being lazy. i am so unmotivated. it's funny. but what the heck? i go back to the grind soon enough.... i do have some new polaroids... and new japanese craft goodness... must photo..... but the couch calls.... maybe tomorrow??? zzzzzzz

aw such a cute bunny!

we just rented walk the line too (last week)! what i noticed about the movie was it seemed joaquin really really dug her - did you sense that or was that just good acting on his part? my favorite part was when she brought him freshly picked raspberries to wake him with. i want my husband to do that for me.....

enjoy the rest of your time off!

Your darling wee bunny has convinced me to attempt one of my own. Very interested in seeing your new polaroids and possible pairings.

So much to be intrigued by in the book, so much information; I can't imagine how the author compiled and crafted such a thrilling read. If only the history books in school could have been so compelling! How unfortunate that a man of Holmes' perverse character would also be imbued with good looks, intelligence and charisma. [I am a few pages into Part 3.]

Loving the bunny! I'm not sure if you stumbled over Andreas Linzers online shop already (he is the guy Hilary mentioned in the hippo post) - he is quite popular in Germany and had a great shop in Hamburg while I was living there ("Atelier für Frottier").

And thank you for recommending a new show! We will try and check it out...with the help of the net...?

Does anybody else reads a little less thorough through the parts about the fair to get to spooky Dr. Holmes? :)

Given how incredibly hard you work the other 51 weeks of the year it is great that you are taking a week off to just rest and re-charge your batteries! Yes, the book is an amazing and very readable digest of info about the people who did the 1892 Fair as well as a remarkably clear and thus chilling depiction of the psyche a mass murderer.

abby... thanks for kind words about bunny!! i would LOVE to know if james' relatives have any stories about this... there is so much going on!! i can't believe you are done already!

joy.... thanks!! you should totally make them! big love is good... i'm sure it will be on DVD soon enough

nicole... :) i can't believe you don't have the new sopranos yet... it has started w/ a bang.... and 11pm?? wow!

maditi.... new pairings soon! xo

hillary - that would be so great! i'll owe you one!!

jan... i agree... joaquin [sp?] did do a good job conveying his need/lust/love of june! and the raspberry part was super sweet. i also liked when she confronted him on how "accidental" everything was - his sound, wearing black.... that was great!

maria and wendy!... yes... it's good to stop for a minute! xo

lisa|eots... i know! i wish all my history text books were this engaging. larson is really talented and adept at taking facts and weaving them together in a way that is really compelling! - glad you like the bunny!

anke... thanks for the link! :)
yes.... sometimes i read the fair parts a bit faster just to see what creepy holmes is up to next... but i'm glad it's not all holmes b/c then i'd lose it!

pat... yes... recharging is important... it's easy for me to forget this! :D

oh, your week... sounds delicious. and you know, I felt very similar about 'walk the line'-- stellar performances but yes, a little movie-of-the-week-ish.

Awww...bunny-WEE turned out very cute (backwards ears and all)! Lucky recipient-to-be. It's very cool to have some downtime to do absolutely nothing. Good for you!

Ummm...I must confess I very much agree with you on the two flicks, but don't think I still didn't do the same as you (getting out the CASH asap). I am horridly picky about films in general (too much for my own good).

Lisa, thanks for all your onslaught of inspiration (ALL your work, okay...even your quick, random "thoughts" (aka drawings), as always. Make me want to break out the paper/pencils/pens once again and NOT have them be just for the kids. ;~)
