my name is lisa :: and i'm a coat addict

did you SEE alicia's ? wow. the polka dot one..... the red plaid?? i know i'm an addict because i'd get those in a heart-beat. no questions asked. when she claimed she had a problem she had no idea about me and my sorrid little secret. i rarely get rid of clothing. of anykind. i have to not wear something for years... and not have any sentimental ties to it for me to part with it. i am recovering from this... in fact i cleaned out the closet to get to all these coats [i'm taking a stack to the goodwill and giving a few things away! i swear!]. but i do really wear all of these [and the 2 i already revealed]. fondly. consistantly [ok - the capelet is something just to behold in wonder - but i'd wear it if i had the occasion! someone give me a reason!]. i really do find something so nice about having the perfect coat for an occasion. the coat to match my outfit... or just the perfect utilitarian coat....

so there... i have aired my dirty laundry [sorry can't help the pun]. and truth be told there are even a few more.... but goodness if i showed you ALL of them you'd REALLY think i was crazy, right? click on the image to go to flickr for a bit more of the inside scoop on the coats.... and don't get me started on shoes.... or sunglasses....

in other news.... shari pointed out that the book club has been on hiatus. she suggested the history of love by nicole krauss. mine is ordered and on the way. wanna join us? [please do!]

on that note i think i'll call it a day.... catch you on the other side of wednesday!

This post just made me smile...and the title suits me.
Are any of these 2nd hand?
My favourite is the one with the sort of large oriental pattern (3rd top). I like the colours and at the moment I am into bold patterns.
I´ve just finished the history of love...please tell me all about this book club thing.
Have a wonderful day
paula :)

That blue white one!

The history of love is great, by the way. I am now reading her husbands second book - extremely loud and incredibly close (even better).

What an amazing array of colorful and different coats to wear for all occasions! And there are a few more yet unseen?!? WOW!

Did you finish Artemisia? Any last thoughts you, or others, would want to share about her?

hi erin.... coats are not clutter... funny b/c in my mind i am in a minimalist... in reality... i'm full of clutter... go get some coats!!

paula... most of them are 2nd hand... only 3 of them are new ! the book club is where we try to read a book at the same time and then talk about it every once and awhile - sort of my blog as the meeting place. if you've already read it -please chime in w/ comments when we talk about it!

marieke... :) i'm glad to hear the history of love is great! when we get to it, you should make comments too!

pat... yes - i finished artemesia... i didn't like the end so much - kind of abrupt, but the rest of it was really great. i'm now a big fan of the weaving of truth and fiction [when it comes to books - not government!]

julie.... :) xo

ok blair... if i find a coat - it's yours! i actually saw a black w/ brown fur trim one the other day and wanted to snag it, but then i thought of all these and well... but now that i'm looking not for ME... heh heh heh

hi shona! i'd love to see those... i have a few... purse challenge??

tiffany... your new ones sound perfect! and i'm so glad it's not just me!

maditi... :D as you are the vase queen too !!

hi wenders! : i'm glad you find this funny.... i'm an addict. you need to feel sorry for me! :)

shari... check... red coat... if find will send! [i love shopping for others.. this is fantastic!]

hi mati... thank you...

risa... shoes? oh no... i have so many shoes... really?? will you show your shows?? we could do a monthly clothing show off....

kelly... that's how i started. with just 3....caution!

ky - you can still participate... yes! add perspective!! blue bags? sounds intriguing!

hi ashb! the book club is so easy... it's informal... we all read a book about the same time.... i pick a passage or a theme or something that i find interesting and then you contribute to the discussion - point out what you like - or don't like - pick a favorite quote.... it's kind of fun! join join!!
lLuuurve your coat collection Lisa!! I love coats, but curiously enough I don't have too many....I never get cold enough {because I like being cold the freak that I am}....so even in winter a jacket is enough. {or maybe us Scots are just hard?};P

I did get an amazing red Gloverall duffel coat in TK Maxx for £50 last year..which is no thrift find, but they are usually £250.00 so it was good enough for me *beam*

but, I digress....roll on coat weather so your overwear menagerie can get a good outing!!
