continue // making
had a 3 year old birthday to attend. they said no gifts, but the birthday boy loves animals so i thought i'd make a doggie out of some modify/d cashmere scraps.
there were balloons.
here's the dog all put together. i thought about how i wouldn't give this to a one year old. with the buttons. but 3? should be safe.
been thinking a lot about the passage of time. what is familiar. what we desire. how that shifts over said time. how we place ourselves. what makes someplace or someone "home". how often it seems the grass is greener someplace, but really we are standing on our own patch of green if we bothered to look down. how passion sometimes usurps intelligence. how there can be more than one "right" answer. i think this has a lot to do with the newlyweds book i'm reading.
and also that i'm just in this inbetween space too. trying to tackle practical things like find the little a dentist [that takes our insurance] and find a housepainter... but also still MAKE. because it's often about momentum. things in motion stay in motion. but there is a pause. the do i continue on the path i was on or shift gears and try something utterly and completely new. or some inbetween mix. [usually what i do].
this image doesn't do it justice - but i did like these color prints by anna gray and ryan wilson paulsen that i saw at artpad. they read a book and any time a color is mentioned they figure out the percentage and chart it. of course i like this... there are some better images on their gallery website. like this one. but i liked utopia so much - for that one strip of rainbow color... of course now i think i should read utopia....

The boy must have loved the dog. The ears give it a nice touch...excuse the pun!
Looking forward to seeing what you produce next.....
