some bits

rotavirus

this image - rotavirus - is up for sale on tiny showcase. i found several viruses i wanted to render when i was originally researching toxins. rotavirus is so prevalent. we've probably all had it. in the western world the oral vaccine given to babies has eradicated the deadlier outbreaks [it's much easier for a baby to get dehydrated and die]. the charity i chose to support with the print is doctors without borders. [how can you not be impressed by their work?]

this is what rotavirus looks like under a microscope. when i make these drawings i find an image that i like and then recreate it with the doilies. doesn't the virus kind of look like a doily?

i was also interviewed by craft foxes. you know - they really are a HUGE resource. i didn't have any idea.

it's my last weekend before summer school kicks in. wish me luck. a post about memory [mine] in the works...
