drawing a day ~ week 30

drawing a day ~ week 30 Originally uploaded by dressform.

the BIG 3-0. it's kind of hard to believe. do the drawings feel more adult? this week was very very organic. and i don't mean that in a hippy, granola way... i mean that the shapes and stuff seem organic.

mecozy with the help of mav [who BTW is celbrating a bloggversary! yay!] came up with a shoot a color per day photo hunt... today's color is yellow [i feel like sesame street!]

yellow

what i really like about this project is the LOOKING AROUND. look at what you have. look at it in a new way. i'm thinking this should carry over into the drawings. what am i looking at? why? how do i frame it? what shapes am i drawn to... and how will that correlate with color?? mmmm. nice thoughts....

i had a lovely day with lisa bird on saturday. i so admire her drive... after long days at work she manages to create so much... and she is so giving - sharing so much of her technique, skills, ideas with all of us.... uh not to mention she's beyond talented and a super spiffy dresser! she's the one that took photos... i was too shy.... you can see a re-count of the day here

and before i go... some book thoughts.... my dad suggested this , i've heard good things about this and this wouldn't be a "happy" read - but i loved the excerpt i read in the times, and i'm a fan of didion.... any other thoughts??

the music swap partners have been determined... if you signed up and i missed you... leave a comment!

Keep thinking I know what my favorites are from your drawing a day - then you do another week and I fall in love all over again!
And your photos are so amazing - I think you just needed a better camera to document your amazing eye! love the combo of photos.
yeah the two lisa's together!

at first i was like, "she didn't tell me it was her birthday!" and then i was like "she's already older than 30." and then i realized you were talking about your drawing a day. and i laughed to myself. thank you for your sweet words. i am so happy we are becoming friends!! i only wish we lived even a bit closer.

you are so right about the "looking around" part of it. i was noticing so many things i may have never noticed otherwise about my day.
i owe you a giant email-but basically my answer is yes-it sounds great!!!
the first book looks good-anything except a million little pieces, please :)
i'll email you post dinner

Adoration in abundance for this weeks drawings and your 'yellow' photos Lisa..so beautiful...

I have such a problem when reading any good book...whenever I do (which I love to!) I can't get ANY work done until I have fininshed the book..basically can never put one down, so end up with no sleep and no work!! Maybe I should just be a literary by-stander, only flicking through Vogue instead??...

anyhoo..What a great idea the book club is...:) Xox

these drawings a day are great, you continue to out stitch yourself!

how wonderful that you live so close to lisa that you may visit! i am quite envious, as there are no bloggie friends in my neck of the woods, it would seem.

i propose we read the gee's bend quilt book...that way i'd be motivated to eat up the delicious text as much as the photos!

have a fantastic afternoon!

Wow! Simply beautiful!
30! My goodness, you are still so young!
I'd go for book #2, purely because I love the cover. It caught my eye at the bookstore the other day.
I'm so looking forward to the CD swap!

hey darlin' as I already left my rather verbose comments all over your flickr page I will merely add that your drawings make me happy, they inspire me and excercise my "creative eye" (which I love!).

the studio shots Lisa posted are sooo nifty! I love behind-the-scenes photos and I'm always fascinated by what other people see in someone else's space.

I hated "million little pieces" but let me say that I'd read it when it first came out and seemed to recall enjoying it so when all the "hoopla" happened I tried to read it again and was just annoyed. Magical Thinking is supposed to be fab, I would totally read it :) I'd never heard of the first book but I think it sounds very interesting!

I love the idea of the color photo hunt. Wish I had time today to get out and find some blues!

oh jeeze, there I go blathering on again...

wendy.... that tickles me to no end... and yes! let's blame the photos on the good camera that i finally sprung for! see ! it was worth it!! :D

lisa.... yup the drawings are 30 this week.... i am delighted as well... look forward to our next visit....

thank you mooncici!!

cally... show it all!! thanks for the kind words re:drawings....

ky... yup.... maybe we need to be cubed too?? if only lisa -eye on the sparraw - lived out here.....

abby... so far two no's for million little pieces... so it's out.... still ruminating on the other two.... i still owe you and email back...

shari... i can't tell you how much your words mean. i am so honored that you visit them during the week! that is so great!!

thank you jenny and jan!!

abigail... i used to be like that and i am slowly retraining myself... i now make reading the very last thing i do before i go to bed... or i give myself a 20 minute break some point in the day. i didn't think i'd be able to do it... but i'm learning!!

shanna... i wish you were closer... someday i hope we meet as well! gee's bend... hmmmm.... good idea.....

thank you vegas and venice!!

ali... i am OLDER than 30 :D but the drawings are 30 ! :D i like the cover too, but two people have said they didn't want to read it... so i'm axing it for now....

abee... blather away... i LOVE it and it never seems like blathering to me.... you are such a dear! i wish you had time to hunt too - you'd come up w/ some amazing photos for sure!
