mr. waits, i hope you are right

yesterday i had the pleasure of meeting sally , big and baby J, and appah. they are the coolest family. thank you ! for finding a moment in your trip to hang out in oakland. i can't wait to see you all again!

so what's with the title? watch mr. waits for a sec....{you'll have to click out of some readers to see this video}

well.....

installations in a box

this is all it takes to make 2 installations. at least i hope it's all it takes because if i forgot something i'm screwed! me and this box and a couple suitcases [one mostly empty] are headed on a jet plane on sunday. i can't believe it. it doesn't seem real. this show has been in the works for eons - fell through once because of funding and then.... well.... here it is. and here i go. and i've been frantically trying to get ready. and i'm about as ready as i'll ever be i guess.

the show will be at the Koumi Museum ... in.... JAPAN! [koumi is near Nagao - think olympics]. we install for almost two weeks. i'm hopefuly doing both a tank and a doily installation.... and the show opens June 24th at 3pm [on the off chance someone wants to and CAN come].

link to the museum here . it was built by ando tado {!!! architect god !!!}. there's some info in english on the place here . there's info on the show [in japanese] here . i'm the only woman. hmmm.

anyway - after the show i will be travelling around the country. if i have decent internet access i will post here and post pics on my flickr from time to time. but i doubt i'll be reading many blogs :) - although never say never. i hope i can pop into your worlds from now and again while i'm gone and well.... wish me luck!! i'll be back in july!!

btw... it was my turn to post on ship today....

Oh! To be in Japan, wow! Just wow! So proud to know you my friend, so happy for you being able to see this installation come together finally. Hey, I was looking in the latest issue of Readymade and saw your name mentioned, did you know? It's a piece on Austin designer Alyson Fox's home, she mentioned you guys have been known to trade artwork. I said "wow, it's Lisa" out loud at a coffee shop : )

How cool you got to meet Sally and her lovely family. Such good people, can't wait to see her again.

Safe travels to you, can't wait to hear how it all goes. xo

Hot damn. have a blast my dear... and take lots of pictures... and when you return home send me some installation shots (hint*hint).

I'm sure you have everything you need - including a chorus of well-wishers and fans and groupies here in bloggyland and if not, I bet they have killer crochet thread in japan.

Wow, amazing! Congrats on the show. Definitely take a ton of photos of the install and the opening—if only I could sneak away to Japan for a few days! Sounds fabulous. Have a great time!

Wow! Congratulations! Japan should be amazing fun, and give you so many photo opportunities! And I'm sure that any art supplies for the installation that you may have forgotten, they'll have there, only with cuter packaging.

Oh how wonderful! So much for you to see and experience. Incredible. You are such an amazing woman, you've had this to get ready for during this difficult time, but you've done it - you're brilliant.

Take the world by storm Lisa, in that creative way that you do. I am immensely looking forward to seeing your trip through your eyes and camera lens.

Have a wonderful time. xox

Ohhhhh! Japan...I'm sooo green with envy :)
Japan is probably my top dream destination. I day dream of spending a month in Japan learning some ceramics with a master and learn about their working methods that are related with life and the way we should live it.

Tadao Ando is one of my favourite architects. It just makes sense.

Have the most gorgeous time in Japan. You only took an empty suitcase? I think I would have taken 2 or 3 :D
Enjoy! and all the best for your installation work.

Thank you so much for your words. They made me stop and think. :)
