there goes my alligator

right after halloween last year i asked the little what she wanted to be next year. she said ALLIGATOR ! i have no idea where this impulse came from but i was happy that it was an alligator rather than a princess so i smiled. i said that i would check with her again before halloween time and lo and behold she hadn't changed her mind. ALLIGATOR ! RO-AR !

i looked, but knew i wasn't going to find a costume that i liked - they were all bright green, or looked more like dragons. so of course i made one. in parts. little by little. it took a couple of weeks. if you follow me on instagram you saw the progress.... and the result ?

the most fun part really was the tail. it was HUGE. of course i knew that she wouldn't really wear the head for long - i bribed her with potential candy consumption so she'd let me photshoot at home. she did wear the hands for a long time - until she got too hot... so in the end i was part alligator too :

i'd be fine if she wants to be a ghost or mummy next year. heh heh. but of course her wish will be my command. even if it's a princess [although i will lobby hard against that].

happy halloween. hope you all had fun ! the little is overjoyed with her candy haul. and she chewed gum for the first time.... !!!

That costume is fantastic!! My niece has been a princess every year, no matter how much we tell her how lame it is.

This is the funniest post Lisa. I'm laughing at it all. I love that you went all out on this costume. Super. Fantastic.

So cute! This year Zoey decided one hour before kickoff to make her own costume, a black cat - you'll get to look forward to watching your little one sewing away in a couple of years I bet. It's so nice to see some homemade outfits out there, way too rare these days!

It is so, so perfect! I had to do some bribing of my own for my guy's pirate costume - "You couldn't find your hat, so wear your beard!"

OMG! Little looks adooooooooorable. What a great costume. I had one of my third graders tell me she was going to be a koala bear. It's so wonderful to see imagination come straight from the babes.

This is just the greatest ever! I love the thought of her seeing these photos as a grown up and being like "Whoah, mom!!" Lucky little. :-)
